Overview

Dr. James Yilong Wei has been practicing in Taiwan for over thirty years. He has held teaching positions at several universities, including National Chiao Tung University, Chinese Culture University, and Tamkang University and has served as a Taipei City Council member for the seventh and eighth terms, actively participating in public affairs. Currently, Dr. James Yilong Wei serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Taiwan office of the law firm, Dentons, as well as the Honorary Chairman and Supervisor of the Chinese Intellectual Property Protection Association, Chairman of the Love-Tree Social Welfare Foundation, and Director of the Asia-Pacific Integrated Research Institute.


James Yilong Wei serves as a director in several financial, securities, and technology companies, demonstrating his wealth of practical experience. He has handled numerous high-profile cases that have garnered significant attention in Taiwan, earning recognition from various sectors of society.


For more than 30 years, he has voluntarily provided legal consultation services to the public and has worked tirelessly to help those who have been wronged to clear their names and secure their release from legal charges. Upholding justice and fairness is the most valuable mission he has pursued throughout his life.

Experience and Insights

Experience
  • Vantone Capital Pte. Ltd.: Assisted Vantone Capital Pte. Ltd., a Singaporean company, in establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary in Taiwan. Collaborated with the Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore offices of Dentons on several billion-dollar investment cases involving major Chinese real estate companies listed in Beijing and Shanghai. Provided comprehensive legal services, including due diligence reports, to mitigate investment risks, protect corporate interests, and assist in various company establishment and approval preparations. Also provided ongoing legal consultation for project promotion. Assisted in the design, planning, drafting of real estate lease agreements, and related negotiations.
  • Nice Group: Provided legal services to Taiwan's largest daily chemical plant, Nice Group. Assisted the group's subsidiary, Ai Zhili Company, in applying for a delayed trademark and handling joint venture matters with Shandong Dong'e Gelatin Company. Served as legal advisors to Ai Zhili in its joint venture with Beijing Beikong Group for investments in Beijing, Shandong, Fujian, and other regions, providing contract reviews and investment legal planning to successfully reduce investment risks, safeguard corporate interests, save costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Shenzhen Laibao Hi-Tech Co., Ltd.: Helped Shenzhen Laibao High-Tech Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the research and development and production of small and medium-sized flat-panel display upstream materials, establish an office in Taiwan. The company had previously engaged other law firms but was unable to complete the establishment process. After several exchanges with the Commercial Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, we successfully completed the establishment process.
  • Success Holding Group International Inc.: Provided legal advisory services to a Taiwan-based company seeking to list and raise funds in the United States.
  • Hsin House International Co., Ltd. and Sky Line International Entertainment Co., Ltd. merger and acquisition case.
  • National Palace Museum: Represented the National Palace Museum in intellectual property rights protection cases in mainland China.
  • Xu Chen: Collaborated with Dentons offices in Wuhan, Zhengzhou, and other locations to handle civil, criminal, and non-litigation cases related to family inheritance.
  • Super Micro Computer, Inc.: Collaborated with our Shanghai office to assist a high-tech Taiwan-funded enterprise in Kunshan, Jiangsu, in resolving disputes related to labor, debts, and other issues. Successfully mediated disputes in an investment case worth over 100 million RMB, making important contributions to establishing a cross-strait judicial recognition mechanism and building a cross-strait judicial mutual trust system.
  • Project Code: Spring Project: In 2013, Dentons offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, in collaboration with financial consultant Morgan Stanley, provided legal services for a state-owned enterprise's Taiwan Energy Project. Provided legal opinions on cross-strait investment, natural gas pipeline construction, and operation issues, as well as countermeasures and solutions. Produced a "Legal Sensitivity Analysis" report on Taiwan's legal regulations and investment environment.

  • Engaged in Taipei City Government's civilian legal consultation for over 20 years from 1994 to 2014, recognized with a commendation from the Taipei City Government.
