2018

Dentons launched offices in Uganda through KAA Law Firm.

Dentons initiated operations in El Salvador.

2017

Dentons opened an office in Monterrey, Mexico.

Dentons merged with Muñoz Global, expanding its presence in Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala.

Dentons merged with Gallo Barrios Pickmann in Peru.

Dentons formed a strategic alliance with Vella Pugliese Buosi Guidoni (VPBG) in Brazil.

Dentons established a cooperation with Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing in Honolulu and Hilo.

Dentons merged with Boekel in Amsterdam.

Dentons launched an office in Melbourne.

Rodyk & Davidson merged with Dentons in Singapore.

Dentons confirmed a merger with Cardenas & Cardenas in Colombia.

Dentons confirmed a merger with Lopez Velarde in Mexico.

Dentons merged offices in Sydney, Moorebank, and Perth to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

Dentons opened an office in Sacramento.

Dentons opened an office in Oakland.

Dentons opened an office in Rome.

2015

McKenna Long & Aldridge merged with Dentons US.

Dentons merged with Dentons.

2013

Salans, Fraser Milner Casgrain (FMC), and SNR Denton merged to form Dentons.

McKenna Long & Aldridge expanded its litigation practice by adding 15 aviation lawyers from Dombroff Gilmore Jaques & French, thereby broadening its national footprint.

2012

SNR Denton opened offices in Atlanta and New Orleans.

McKenna Long & Aldridge merged with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps.

2011

SNR Denton opened offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

2010

Denton Wilde Sapte and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal merged to form SNR Denton, ranking among the top 25 global law firms.

SNR Denton opened an office in Amman.

Salans opened an office in Brussels.

2009

Denton Wilde Sapte opened an office in Singapore. Approximately 100 lawyers from Wall Street firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood joined Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal. Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Miami. McKenna Long & Aldridge expanded its California presence and real estate practice by adding 17 lawyers from Los Angeles-based Brown Winfield Canzoneri Abram Inc. Gadens merged with Christensen Vaughan to establish a boutique commercial law firm.

2008

Salans opened an office in Frankfurt. McKenna Long & Aldridge celebrated 50 years of its government contracts practice, the first and largest of its kind in the United States.

2007

Denton Wilde Sapte opened offices in Amman, Doha, and Riyadh. Salans opened offices in Madrid and Barcelona. Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened offices in Dallas and Silicon Valley. McKenna Long & Aldridge established the McKenna Long & Aldridge Foundation. Luce Forward opened an office in Orange County, California.

2006

Salans further expanded in Paris and opened an office in Berlin. Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Phoenix. McKenna Long & Aldridge merged with Plunkett & Jaffe and opened offices in New York City and Albany, New York. Luce Forward opened an office in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

2005

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal started an office in Boston.

2004

Salans expanded into the Central and Eastern European market by forming an alliance with one of Budapest's largest law firms, which later merged into Salans.

2003

Salans opened offices in Prague, Bucharest, Bratislava, Istanbul, and Shanghai.

2002

Long Aldridge & Norman merged with McKenna & Cuneo to form McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Rodyk merged with HelenYeo & Partners. Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Short Hills, New York.

2001

Luce Forward opened an office in Carmel Valley/Del Mar, expanding its services to technology and media clients.

2000

Fraser Milner merged with Byers Casgrain in Montreal to form Fraser Milner Casgrain, with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. Denton Wilde Sapte opened an office in Paris and formed its first alliances with leading firms in two African countries, developing into the largest affiliated law firm network for a multinational law firm in Africa.

1999

Salans merged with New York-based Christy & Viener, marking the first transatlantic law firm merger; also opened an office in Baku, marking its entry into the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Fox & Gibbons joined Denton Hall; opened offices in Almaty and Tashkent.

1998

Fraser & Beatty in Ontario and Milner Fenerty in Alberta merged to form Fraser Milner.

Salans expanded its presence in London by merging with banking and corporate law firm Harris Rosenblatt & Kramer.

1997

Gadens opened an office in Perth.

1994

Salans opened an office in Almaty, officially entering Central Asia.

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Kansas City.

Luce Forward acquired offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

1993

Denton Hall opened an office in Moscow.

Salans opened an office in Saint Petersburg.

1992

Dacheng was established in China.

Salans opened offices in Kyiv and London.

1991

Fenerty Robertson merged with Edmonton firm Milner & Steer to establish Milner Fenerty, one of the largest law firms in West Toronto.

Salans opened offices in Moscow and Warsaw, becoming one of the first Western law firms to enter the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, beginning a rapid expansion in the region.

1990

After the Supreme Court of Canada allowed the establishment of law firms across provinces, Fraser & Beatty in Toronto and Ottawa merged with Mawhinney & Kellough, becoming one of the earliest national law firms in Canada.

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened offices in Los Angeles and St. Louis.

McKenna & Cuneo expanded its Denver and California operations and opened offices in San Diego and Brussels. The firm also acquired Technology Sciences Group, Inc. (TSG) to support its chemical practice.

1988

Denton Hall & Burgin opened an office in Milton Keynes; several lawyers from London-based Herbert Oppenheimer, Nathan & Vandyk joined the firm.

Several mergers and acquisitions, including in corporate, securities, real estate, and finance, strengthened Long Aldridge & Norman, which grew to over 70 lawyers.

1987

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in San Francisco.

1986

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in Washington, D.C.

1985

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal opened an office in New York, leading to its development into a national law firm with branches in 13 US cities.

Partners from London-based Warrens joined Denton Hall & Burgin.

1980

J. Donald Mawhinney and Howard Kellough founded Mawhinney & Kellough in Vancouver. Sellers Conner & Cuneo merged with McKenna & Fitting to form McKenna Conner & Cuneo, aggressively expanding its operations in California. The firm later became known as McKenna & Cuneo.

1979

Fox & Gibbons opened an office in Muscat.

1978

Carl Salans, Jeffrey Hertzfeld, and Eliane Heilbronn founded the Salans Hertzfeld Heilbronn law firm in Paris.

1974

Clay Long, John Aldridge, and Bill Stevens established a law firm based in Atlanta, laying the foundation for what would become Long Aldridge & Norman LLP.

1969

Members of the Gadens Sydney office commenced operations in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

1968

Fox & Gibbons opened an office in Dubai.

1967

Fox & Gibbons opened an office in Abu Dhabi.

1964

One of Denton Hall's predecessors, Fox & Gibbons, established an office in Cairo, marking the beginning of nearly 50 years of business expansion in the Middle East.

1958

Gilbert Cuneo, Vice Chairman of the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, joined Cummings & Sellers and established what would become the firm's government procurement practice. The firm later became known as Sellers, Conner & Cuneo.

1939

Former National Democratic Party Chairman and former Attorney General under President Roosevelt, Homer Cummings, along with Deputy Attorney General Bill Stanley, founded the Cummings & Stanley law firm.

1929

The law firm of Charles H. Forward merged with Luce.

1928

John Gaden and ten other lawyers began practicing in the Sydney suburb of Double Bay, laying the groundwork for what would become the Gadens Sydney office.

1912

Lloyd Hamilton Fenerty and Henry Phipps Otto Savary established a law firm called Milner Fenerty.

Savary & Fenerty (later known as Fenerty, Robertson) was established in Calgary.

1906

Edward Sonnenschein, Maurice Berkson, and Isadore Blumenthal founded a Chicago law firm later known as Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal.

1888

The earliest predecessor of Milner & Steer law firm was established in Edmonton.

1885

Charles and Edward Burgin joined Denton and Hall, leading to the renaming of the firm as Denton Hall & Burgin.

1873

Moses A. Luce began his legal career and participated in the construction of California's first city, San Diego, with bankers, architects, and other visionaries. In 1889, Luce drafted the San Diego City Charter.

1861

The predecessor of Rodyk & Davidson law firm, Woods & Davidson, was founded by Robert Carr Woods and James Guthrie Davidson.

1839

John Willoughby Crawford founded a law firm in Toronto, becoming one of the earliest predecessors of Fraser & Beatty.

1788

Samuel Denton established the law firm later known as Denton Hall in London.

1785

Thomas Wilde and Archer Hussey founded the law firm later known as Wilde Sapte in London.

1742

The earliest predecessor of Denton Hall, the Warrens law firm, commenced operations in the City of London.
